Highlights of DGD’s recent Horticulture Journey through China

Strengthening Sino-Dutch Cooperation

There are numerous developments currently taking place in China that DGD is involved in. With a packed program, we traveled across several Chinese regions to assess progress and promote the production of fresh and safe food.

We reflect on an incredibly valuable program and share some of the highlights of our trip.

Asia Fresh in Shanghai / 27th FHC Shanghai Global Food Trade Show
Together with DGD-partners, we presented sustainable production methods and the importance of a complete horticultural ecosystem at this well-attended fair (200,000 professional visitors). HortiFresh Conference “The Dutch Cultivation Industry from Fork to Farm” in Shanghai
During this seminar, DGD-partners shared how various elements of the ecosystem contribute to sustainable and profitable production. A panel discussion addressed topics such as traceability, branding, and market standards to make vegetables and fruit more recognizable to Chinese consumers.

Dutch Horti Conference in Lanzhou
At the China Greenhouse Industry Conference 2024, we organized a horticulture seminar in collaboration with Lumiforte Beijing. Here, Dutch companies shared their ecosystem approach. In a panel discussion with the agricultural council and Gert Dral (DGD), the focus was on fostering deeper cooperation between the Netherlands and China, particularly regarding training, technical support, and sustainable development

Opening of our office in Jiashan
We opened a dedicated space for Dutch horticulture companies to collaborate and expand their presence in China: the Sino-Dutch Horticulture Integrated Development Promotion Center. This office is in close connection with the innovative Agropark in Jiashan. Read more about this project.

Groundbreaking Ceremony in Huzhou City
We celebrated the start of construction for the Sino-Dutch Horticulture Economic Park in Huzhou City, covering an impressive 28 hectares. Gert Dral, director of DGD-China, joined all stakeholders in putting the first shovel into the ground to symbolize the beginning of this significant project. Read more information here.

Horticulture Development in Lanzhou and Shanghai
We held discussions with local authorities and investment companies about the development of horticulture in Lanzhou and Shanghai. Both regions are committed to developing high-tech horticulture through Sino-Dutch cooperation.
