Strengthening Dutch-Qatari Partnerships at AgriteQ 2025

The AgriteQ 2025 exhibition is taking place from February 4-8 in Qatar, and our MEA Director, Giovanni Angiolini, is attending for two days to connect with industry leaders and innovators. He is writing a blog about it, which was published on LinkedIn on February 5th and 6th.

A Fruitful First Day at AgriteQ 2025 in Qatar!
The 12th edition of the Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ) kicked off today at The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara in Doha, inaugurated by HE Minister Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah of Qatar’s Ministry Of Municipality. This year’s event has drawn strong international participation from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, underscoring Qatar’s growing role as a regional hub for sustainable agriculture and food security.

HE Minister of Municipality emphasized in his speech that this event reflects the State of Qatar’s commitment to fostering innovation and sustainable development in the Agricultural sector as it is one of the key pillars of comprehensive development in the country.

Notably, HE Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, UAE Minister Climate Change and Environment, attended the opening ceremony, as the UAE Ministry was selected as the guest of honor for this year’s exhibition. The Minister later met briefly with Dutch Ambassador HE Ferdinand Lahnstein, who extended an invitation to visit the Netherlands during Greentech in June.

On behalf of Dutch Greenhouse Delta (DGD), I am proud to be present at AgriteQ alongside leading Dutch companies, including DGD partners Artechno Growsystems, JASA Packaging Solutions, KUBO Group, and Ridder. Additionally, Qatar based NAAAS Holding Group is representing DGD’s partners Koppert and Hoogendoorn Growth Management at their booth.

Today’s program was packed with valuable discussions, including meetings with Hassad Food, Agrico Qatar , International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), and other key stakeholders from the Gulf. Among the key topics: strengthening Dutch-GCC collaborations and preparing for a joint event in Qatar this April.

A strong start to what promises to be an exciting and impactful exhibition! Looking forward to the coming days of knowledge exchange and collaboration”.

Second day

“Our second day at AgriteQ 2025, Qatar, was another success, marked by valuable exchanges and meaningful connections. Today, we were joined by Mrs. Simone Landhuis, Agricultural Counsellor at the Netherlands Agricultural Network in GCC, HE Mr. Ferdinand Lahnstein, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Qatar, Mark Zonnenberg from the Dutch Ministerie van Landbouw, Visserij, Voedselzekerheid en Natuur, and Mrs. Heba leith, Senior Economic Advisor at the Netherlands Embassy in Doha.

One of today’s highlights was our visit to the Al Rayyan Agricultural booth. The company continues to play a vital role in advancing Qatar’s agricultural sector by overcoming challenges faced by local farmers. Their efforts to introduce high-quality, resistant vegetable seeds to the local market, promote scientifically sound agricultural solutions, and provide farmer education on sustainable practices, pest control, and safe pesticide use are truly commendable.

After a quick visit to the beautiful Place Vendôme Mall, our day concluded with a warm and engaging dinner reception at the private residence of the Ambassador, where we had the pleasure of meeting various Dutch and Qatari stakeholders from both the public and private sectors. The conversations and connections made reaffirm the strong potential for future collaborations between the Netherlands and Qatar in sustainable agriculture and food security.

A big thank you to the Netherlands Embassy in Qatar for their outstanding support and hospitality throughout AgriteQ. Some of our partners will still be around tomorrow, and I personally look forward to returning to Qatar soon!”
