Incoming delegation from the Gulf region

Last week, we immersed our guests from the Gulf region in the heart of knowledge sharing, education, networking, and innovation for sustainable food production. Our goal: introduce the delegates to the innovations and sustainable solutions of Dutch horticultural technology, gain insights, and lay the foundation for collaborations that will accelerate local and sustainable production. We felt honored to showcase the strength of the greenhouse industry to the enthusiastic delegation from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.

The delegation looks back on an inspiring visit to the Dutch horticultural sector. During the mission, they became acquainted with sustainable food production and experienced how this can make a difference in addressing challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, food waste, and public health. The delegates are eager to bring these insights back to the Gulf region and collaborate with Dutch partners on their food safety ambitions.

Welkomin Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Malik

The importance of collaboration was also emphasized at ministerial level. During GreenTech, we had the privilege of welcoming Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Malik, the Saudi Deputy Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture for Research and Innovation. Together with representatives from the Saudi Ministry, and the Research, Development and Innovation Authority (RDIA), we visited the stands of several partners of Dutch Greenhouse Delta.

Dr. Al-Malik also engaged in discussions with Frederik Vossenaar, Special Envoy at the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. Both parties highlighted the crucial importance of knowledge sharing and advancing green technologies in food production to ensure a sustainable future.

Together, we can accelerate progress towards global food security and safety. By adapting proven Dutch technology to local contexts, we support the production of fresh, safe, and delicious vegetables and fruits year-round, at fair prices, and close to consumers. We look forward to following up on this inspiring week and staying in touch with the delegates!

This trade mission was organized by Dutch Greenhouse Delta (Giovanni Angiolini) in collaboration with the Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO), Embassy and Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the United Arab Emirates (Nienke Gelderloos) and the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality.

We would like to thank all our DGD-Gulf region partners and the companies we’ve visited for their hospitality and the valuable experiences the Gulf delegates gained during their visits!
