Dutch Greenhouse Delta explores floriculture opportunities in Thailand

In October 2024, our CEO Mirjam Boekestijn traveled to Bangkok for the Dutch-Thai Floriculture Forum, organized by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Thailand and the National Research Council of Thailand. This event, marking 420 years of Thai-Dutch relations, gathered around 200 attendees and industry leaders from both countries to discuss a sustainable and innovative future for Thailand’s floriculture sector.

Mirjam shared her vision on the importance of collaboration and long-term investment for meaningful progress in floriculture. Contributions from our partners Klasmann-Deilmann, Priva, Koppert, Gemeente Westland, and VNU Asia Pacific brought diverse perspectives, all pointing to the need for sustainable, city-near production backed by strong international partnerships.

With Thailand emerging as a potential market in flower production, the forum was followed by field visits to an orchid grower, a wholesale market for ornamentals, and Kasetsart University. These visits provided valuable insights into the sector’s current state, its challenges, and its potential. A promising foundation for continued collaboration and growth!
