Dutch Greenhouse Delta (DGD) recently embarked on a strategic visit to Thailand and Vietnam, strengthening ties with local partners and showcasing Dutch expertise in horticultural solutions. During this visit, DGD engaged in high-level discussions, participated in leading industry events, and contributed to knowledge-sharing sessions focused on sustainable agricultural practices.
From governmental meetings in Lam Dong Province to a prominent presence at HortEx Vietnam and insightful dialogues at HAN Asia in Thailand—together with our partners—we underscored the Netherlands’ commitment to fostering resilient and sustainable horticultural development in Southeast Asia.
A Fruitful Visit to Lam Dong Province
Together with our partners and in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Vietnam, we participated in a courtesy meeting with the Lam Dong People’s Committee in Da Lat.
The meeting, hosted by Mr. Christoph Prommersberger, Deputy Head of Mission, and Mr. Vo Ngoc Hiep, Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong People’s Committee, was an important follow-up to the Letter of Intent signed in October 2024 between Lam Dong Province and the Municipality of Westland. This agreement laid the groundwork for closer collaboration between the two horticultural hubs.
A wide range of topics arose during the discussion, from Controlled Environment Agriculture and Integrated Pest Management to Plant Breeders’ Rights and the import of new plant varieties into Vietnam.
The session concluded with a networking reception, where local and Dutch businesses had the chance to exchange ideas and explore potential collaborations.

HortEx Vietnam: showcasing Dutch Horticultural Expertise
HortEx Vietnam, with nearly 400 brands from 30 countries, highlighted Vietnam’s growing prominence in the global fruit, vegetable, and flower industry. We welcomed many interested visitors to our shared booth.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Daniël Stork, Consul General of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City, reinforced the Netherlands’ role as a co-creating partner for Vietnam’s agricultural development.
“The Netherlands has been and continues to be a key partner, sharing knowledge, expertise, and innovative technologies for a safer and more sustainable horticulture sector in Vietnam,” he stated.
A highlight of the event was the Export Forum on Flowers, where Dutch experts led an insightful session on Safe Production and High-Tech Applications. Topics included the transition from soil-based growing to substrate, biological crop protection, and closed water management systems—key innovations in sustainable horticulture.

HAN Asia: Dutch-Thai Collaboration for Sustainable Agriculture
In Thailand, we participated in HortiAgriNext (HAN) Asia, where we engaged with interested visitors at the NL Pavilion and spoke with multiple press agencies about the power of collaboration in horticulture. A highlight of this event was our participation in HAN Asia’s seminar, Cities Leading Food Production: A Dutch-Thai Inspiration Seminar on Sustainable Horticulture. This session explored the potential of urban agriculture and circular farming.
During this seminar, we had the opportunity to share practices and insights with fellow experts. Discussions covered strategic approaches to maximizing urban land for food security, emphasizing Dutch-Thai collaboration as a driving force for innovation in sustainable horticulture.
We thank the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Thailand for organizing this seminar.

Looking Ahead
Dutch Greenhouse Delta’s recent engagements in Vietnam and Thailand have reaffirmed the Netherlands’ position as a trusted partner in Southeast Asia’s horticultural transformation. Through strategic collaborations, knowledge sharing, and high-tech innovations, Dutch expertise continues to pave the way for a more sustainable and resilient food system.
The connections established during this visit will serve as a foundation for future cooperation, ensuring that the best of Dutch horticultural solutions contribute to the region’s agricultural advancements. We look forward to further strengthening these relationships and driving impactful change in the global horticulture industry.
